Driving Lada 1200L Zhiguli

Lada 1200 also called ”Zhiguli” is a Soviet made car manufactured between 1970-1989. It was based on a design of Fiat 124 with some modifications.

Lada used to be the leading brand in car sales in Finland at the turn of 1970’s and 1980’s. Now the brand has a cult following amongst Lada enthusiasts.

Many Finns have fond memories of Lada cars. Finnish broadcasting company YLE did a survey of Lada related memories in 2016.

Ladas are generally thought of as rugged, reliable and warm but at the same time a little bit embarrassing automobiles.
