Four Stationary Engines from 1940’s
Stationary engines were common in Finland especially in the countryside. They were used to power up for example farm machines and mills.
Usually the owner of the machine would travel with it and rent it to houses so that they could do the work that was more suitable for machines than people or animals.
In the recording you can hear four different kinds of engines from the 1940’s. Two of the machines were of Olympia brand, one was ”Porilainen” (made in Björneborgs Mekaniska Werkstad in Pori, Finland) and one was made by JA Prestwich Industries.
