Karelian Nocturno

In this recording you can hear a Karelian sung version of Finnish poet Eino Leino’s poem Nocturno. The Karelian translation is made by Paavo Harakka and is performed by Karjalabrihat-duo.

Eino Leino is one of the most liked poets among the Finns. Karelian language is a minority language in Finland spoken by only a small group of people originating from parts of Karelia that now belongs to Russia.

In the background you can hear the sounds from the nearby construction site and people talking in the background.
