Smithy: blacksmith bellows (1)
The sound of hand bellows in operation in the smithy. The recording was realized in the National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa (Poland).
Bellows have two chambers: lower chamber supplies air to the upper chamber, from where it is pumped under the furnace. In order to obtain the temperature of ca. 1000 degrees Celsius in the blacksmith furnace, the supply of oxygen needs to be high. Nowadays, electric fans are used in smithies.
