Tram Worksite in Hämeenkatu

The City council of Tampere decided about the construction of the tramway on 7 November 2016.

A two-lane tramway will be built from Pyynikintori to Hervanta and from the center of Tampere University Hospital in 2017-2021. The aim is that trams will commence to serve in 2021.

Raitiotieallianssi is in charge of tracks, stops, design and construction. Raitiotieallianssi includes the city of Tampere, VR Track Oy, YIT Rakennus Oy and Pöyry Finland Oy.

Tramway construction work has a significant impact on the traffic on the tramway route. Temporary changes has been made regarding the traffic. Bus stops have been moved to new places and buss routes have been amended. Also Pedestrian walkaways have been narrowed.

In the video is shown how the worksite at the Hämeenkatu – the main street of Tampere - is in the middle of the driveway. The working area is bordered with fences.
