Type 4N tram – motorman’s cabin
Sounds accompanying motorman’s work in type 4N power car during the ride from Nowa Huta tram depot to the Museum of Municipal Engineering in Cracow in regular traffic.
The motorman operates the tram consisting of three cars: type 4N power car and two trailer cars: ND and 4ND. Trams composed in this way were operating in Cracow from the 1960s to the 1980s. The recorded vehicle was manufactured in 1949 as type N and updated to type 4N in the 1960s (automatic doors were installed and bottom edge of the car’s body was lowered).
The motorman operated the tram with the use in particular of: a controller crank adjusting the voltage reaching motors, used to change the speed and perform motor braking; a reverser used to change direction (forward/reverse) and a hand brake.
