Väestöhälytin (Warning Signal)

The civil defense siren is used to warn the citizens of Tampere in case of danger like nuclear attack, war or other type of dangers. The sirens are tested every Monday at 12:00 with a steady sound that lasts only seven (7) seconds.

I case of an emergency the sirens will start playing a rising and falling sound for one minute, then when the dangerous situation is over the sirens will play a seven second steady sound.
